Festival
Florida Surf Film Festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, public charity, invigorating surf culture and artistic appreciation by exhibiting contemporary documentary films with surfing as a focus and preserving narrative from artists far and wide while also producing a story-driven podcast, literary group discussions, and artistic workshops.

Opening Night Party, Beachside Tavern, New Smyrna Beach
David Scales and Chas Smith from The Grit and Noble Rot Podcasts will interview John Philbin (Turtle from North Shore, Tombstone, and Point Break) and Luke Cederman (Raglan Surf Report on Instagram) live on-stage with an opportunity to meet and ask questions of these two stalwarts of surf comedy and culture. The podcast will be followed by a musical performance by One by One. Tickets are available here and can be purchased for $20.
The evening begins with a global cinematic journey exploring surf culture, adventure, and artistry:

Frostbite – Surfer Ned Hart and filmmaker Oscar James chase Ireland’s heaviest waves and Scotland’s secret slabs.

Le Jardin | The Secret Story of Safi – Directors Will Bendix and Alan Van Gysen uncover Morocco’s mythical wave, surfed in secrecy for decades.

First In, Last Out – Directed by Keith Malloy, honoring U.S. Coast Guard veteran and surf photographer Christa Funk, followed by a live Q&A.

Point Break (1991) – Special segments from the film with commentary and Q&A from actor and surfer John Philbin (Nathanial), sharing behind-the-scenes stories from the iconic surf heist film.

Haus Tumbuna – A visually stunning short by Matty Hannon, spotlighting Papua New Guinea’s surf culture and connection to its natural environment.
